Via Zach Even-Esh : Shaolin training [streaming, 20.6mb .flv download]. Fascinating (although I'm yet to be convinced by the ball kicking).

This week a new project (related to Straight to the Bar, of course) seems to have eaten its fair share of my time; but the following pieces still managed to make their way onto the site :
- Articles : I love deadlifting in all of its wonderful forms. So, apparently, does Nathan J Polencheck. Blaine takes a look at several podcasts designed for runners and the New York Times takes a peek into the world of Olympic Weightlifting in Florida's High Schools.
- Videos : Dorothy Darke and Arthur Owen demonstrate a few simple self-defense moves - 1931 style, Charles Staley links to several demonstrations of Olympic Weightlifting moves and Barely Dead shows that rollerblading clearly isn't.
- Events : Make sure the following are circled in your calendar (whether you plan to compete or simply watch them on TV) : Mark Webber's Pure Tasmania Challenge, the FINA World Swimming Championships and the Global Grip Challenge. That one definitely looks like a good time.
- Archives : In addition to a flashback of Ronnie Coleman's performance at the 1994 Olympia came a couple of new pieces in the History of Strength section : a brief look at both the wrestler Martin 'Farmer' Burns and the Husafell stone. 175kg of fun.
- Bonus : Via The Genius in All of Us : The nature and nurture of muscles. Very interesting.
