Bird, Douglas Arnold (1913-1996)
Douglas Arnold Bird was born November 12, 1913, son of Alfred Edward Bird and Lily Bradfield. Douglas grew up in William St, Townsville, QLD, Australia. He met music teacher Gladys Myrtle Rahmann, and the two married in the Maryborough Wesley Church on 15 April 1939. Together they had two children, Kevin Douglas and Darrel Arthur. His job with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia meant frequent relocations and he and his family would move many times over the years, including stays in Tenterfield, Mackay, Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Penshurst, Beverly Hills and Merrylands.
The photo at left shows Douglas Bird and his wife Gladys, children Kevin and Darrel, and his mother Lily. Taken Sunday Jan 15, 1944 - probably at Circular Quay, Sydney.

Douglas passed away in 1996.
