Bird, Thomas (1816-?)

Thomas Bird, a sawyer, was born in 1816. In West Bromwich, England on 8th December 1840 he married Elizabeth Hopkins, who was one year his senior. Together they had at least 4 children; Ephraim, Thomas, Joseph and Mary Elizabeth. The last 3 of these were born in North America (British Columbia perhaps?), however the entire family was living together in West Bromwich.

By the time of the 1871 census, Elizabeth and the four children are now living in Smethwick. Elizabeth had become a shopkeeper; Ephraim (now 28) a carriage fitter. Occupations for the other 3 children are unknown.
