John Bird
Born 22 November 1936 in Nottingham, John Bird is a satirist, actor and comedian. As with many English satirists he was educated at Cambridge, becoming well-known shortly afterward in the 1960s' television series That Was The Week That Was.
In the 1970s he gained further notoriety as a satirist with the popular recording The Colleckerted [sic] Broadcasts of Idi Amin (based on Alan Coren's anti-Idi Punch columns).
Despite acting in several films - in both straight and comedic roles - he is now best known in the UK for his work alongside John Fortune and Rory Bremner; particular the award-winning Bremner, Bird and Fortune series.
In Australia he is currently seen alongside Stephen Fry in the 2002 series of Absolute Power.
